UK J24 News – October 2012
2013 Worlds Qualification

Having now completed the final open meeting of the 2012 season (results available through the RWYC website) we have confirmed the list of pre-qualified teams for the 2013 World Championships in Howth.

Congratulations go to the crews of Serco, Il Ricco, Madeliene, Hedgehog, Jawbreaker, Sublime, Legal Alien, Jiggy 2, Hitchhiker and Boomerang – assuming that they are all still available to travel. We are hopeful of securing a couple of extra places for the crews who just missed out so have our fingers crossed for Jeli and Skilled Services….

Charter your boat – Ireland 2013

For those of us not in the running this year there is still the potential option of your boat competing at the worlds by the way of chartering to a team from further afield. These often also require a crew member or two to make up their teams as part of the deal and offers a great way of ensuring that your boat is fully optimised and given a thorough check over.

If you are interested in making your boat available for charter please can you along with details of the boat – manufacturer and year, general condition and whether wet or dry sailed – plus any requirements you would have in order to charter (owner / representative on board etc). We are working out a suggested charter fee to give an idea for prospective boats to work from.

Stuart Jardine Trophy

Having come towards the end of the season we are looking for nominations for who should be the beneficiary of the 2012 Stuart Jardine Trophy. This was won by Nathan Batchelor in 2011 and should be awarded to a sailor nominated from within the UK fleet and approved by the committee who is:

A young class member

Active within class or outstanding in giving their time to help the UK Class

Shown progression within fleet and / or results achieved

If you have someone who you feel meets these criteria please can you drop me a note along with a brief overview so I can pass it by the committee for consideration.

I hope that you all have a good autumn and will be in contact with any further news shortly…
