Hi all, I am relavively new to helming a J24 and have Speedy Bean at Poole. Over the last few months I have developed a problem with my shoulder and can rember someone talking about a traveller that automatically moved from side to side when tacking. I can't remember who it was or where it came from. My first question is about it's legality and the second does anyone have details of where I can get one. Many thanks in advance for any replies. Chris Lang - Speedy Bean 4164.

Chris,
Give Owen Kerr a ring at Christchurch Boatshop tel 01202 482751, you are thinking about the Harken self tacking traveller which all the top boats have and I thought that Jon had fitted on Speedy Bean.
They are not cheap, you actually will not go any slower 99% of the time if you just strap your current traveller down on the centreline.
However if you have the cash available it does make life more comfortable. Remember to ensure that the tail lines each side on the adjusting bit will not let the traveller hit the end stopper. Each ball bearing cost at least £1 each and there could be at least 50 !!.
